Shorecrest must wait for Shorewood’s Wednesday home soccer game with Glacier Peak to determine Wesco 3A championship

Shorewood’s Wednesday home soccer game with Glacier Peak will determine whether Shorecrest wins the Wesco 3A championship outright or shares the title with Glacier Peak.

That’s because Shorecrest’s victory over Glacier Peak Monday ended the Scots’ season with a 13-1 division record (15-1 overall), while Glacier Peak is 12-1 (14-1 overall) going into the 7 p.m. game with Shorewood (10-3 Wesco 3A, 11-4 overall).

Shorewood comes into the game after an 8-0 Monday victory over Oak Harbor. Shorewood had lost to Glacier Peak 3-2 in a shootout when the teams met at Glacier Peak.

Shorecrest topped Glacier Peak 3-0 Monday with goals from Glenn Paden, Drew Beland and Callum Wijelath.

Before the Monday game, the Seattle Times had ranked Glacier Peak No. 1 among State 3A teams, with Shorecrest No. 2 and Shorewood No. 9.

Shorewood will finish second in standing if it can beat GP in full time tonight. Doing so would give SW 1 point advantage over GP in wesco3a final standing and a first GP consecutive defeats this season, as unlikely as that might be.
