Garage Sales everywhere this weekend

Friday, May 20, 2011

Borrowing a concept which has been wildly successful in other locations, multiple Shoreline neighborhood associations are sponsoring garage sale days in their neighborhoods.

They simply pick a date and encourage everyone in the neighborhood to have a garage sale that day. Individuals register their sales with the neighborhood, which handles the publicity.

This weekend, Saturday, May 21, it's the Richmond Beach and Meridian Park neighborhoods.

Saturday, June 4, it's Ridgecrest, North City, and Briarcrest.

In Meridian Park, one multi-family sale is being staged at 18317 10th Ave NE Shoreline 98155, with all the proceeds going to the Susan G Komen 3 Day Walk. Many of the sale sites will be marked with balloons. This site will have pink balloons, the color of the 3 Day Walk.

Sorry, but I didn't see any notice in the Times, even the listing of garage sales earlier this week and never heard how we "register" our sale with the neighborhood"....where? How? I will have large red arrows directing to my site with the leftovers of an Estate Sale...great stuff! (Like Royal Copenhagen plates!) And for your info, much of my sales will go towards needed items at Tent City 3.

Patty of Pattys Places- I can't speak for the other neighborhoods, but, in Richmond Beach we're telling people to "just put out their signs" and we (Richmond Beach Community Association) will advertise the overall area....
We've advertised in many different ways- this year though, the Times wouldn't carry our garage sale ad because it was for more than 1 sale. I tried (without success) to explain that we were just a non-profit advertising a large area of INDIVIDUAL sales with no central organization of each sale. No dice. They wouldn't carry the ad.
If you're a Richmond Beach Res. and have any more questions (or any neighborhood for that matter) you can email me:

Good luck tomorrow..I hope all of the sales are profitable- especially those for our area non-profits!

Does anyone know if there are a couple of sales with lots of baby clothes and toys tomorrow?
