Shorewood first baseman Trevor Mitsui is a hitter to be feared. Mitsui has been likened to former Wesco standouts and current major leaguers Grady Sizemore and Travis Snider.

SHORELINE -- Like a lot of top athletes, Trevor Mitsui has the knack for taking something quite difficult -- in this case, hitting a baseball coming at high velocity -- and making it seem rather simple.

His swing is smooth, almost effortless. And yet the ball, upon impact, tends to leap from his bat and then soar to some distant part of the ballpark, and occasionally beyond.

He is, said Wyatt Tonkin, Mitsui's coach at Shorewood High School, "the best high school hitter I've ever seen."

And that is truly high praise, considering Tonkin also saw Cascade's Grady Sizemore and Jackson's Travis Snider, two former Western Conference stars now playing in the major leagues.
