Shoreline City Councilwoman Doris McConnell registered her candidacy for re-election with the state Public disclosure commission May 2, a step that allows her to raise and spend money for the August 16 primary and November 8 general election

McConnell had announced her candidacy April 29.

McConnell won election four years ago by defeating then-Councilwoman Maggie Fimia.

McConnell is one of the three Shoreline Council members whose terms expire this year. Councilman Chris Eggen also has announced that he would run for reelection. No challengers have announced to run against either Eggen or McConnell,

Councilman Terry Scott has announced that he would not seek a second term. Former Shoreline Planning Commissioner Robin McClelland and attorney Jesse Salomon have registered with the PDC as candidates for the position that Scott now holds.

Candidates file for ballot positions June 6-10. Positions with three or more candidates appear on the August primary ballot. Positions with only one or two candidates appear only on the November ballot.

While Eggen, McClelland and McConnell have yet to report any money raised or spent, Salomon has reported raising $36,864, most of it from relatives or from active 32nd Legislative District Democrats, members of a group that has endorsed his candidacy, and spending $18,231.

The District Democrats also have endorsed Eggen as they did four years ago, when he defeated former Councilman Paul Grace to replace then-Councilman Rich Gustafson.

What a poorly written and biased statement this is:

"Salomon has reported raising $36,864, most of it from relatives or from active 32nd Legislative District Democrats, members of a group that has endorsed his candidacy, and spending $18,231."

What is more accurate is:

"Salomon has reported raising $36,864, most of it from relatives and local residents, and has spent $18,231. He has been endorsed by the 32nd Legislative District Democrats."

For as a matter of record, there are no lists published of the dues paying membership of the 32nd LD Democrats, you are merely assuming these contributors are 32nd LD Democrats. Furthermore, you are imputing that the 32nd LD Democrats are conducting fund raising activities on the part of Salomon - and where is your evidence? Maybe you have already forgotten that this is a non-partisan race and in this State people do not declare party membership on their voter registration, you can belong to the Star Trek Reunion Party if you want to, being a majority of one.

There is something wrong with this statement:

"The District Democrats also have endorsed Eggen as they did four years ago, when he defeated former Councilman Paul Grace to replace then-Councilman Rich Gustafson."

Do you mean to say that Paul Grace replaced a resigning Rich Gustafson? Or did Rich Gustafson chose not to run for re-election?

What is accurate was that in December 2003 Paul Grace was appointed to fill the remaining term of Linda Montgomery, who resigned her seat because she moved out of state.

So explain how Chris Eggen defeated Paul Grace and Rich Gustafson?

Regarding Eggen, Grace and Gustafson:
• Grace got a position by appointment.
• When he ran for a full term in 2005,he lost to Janet Way,
• When Gustafson didn't run for re-election in 2007, Grace ran for that position but lost to Eggen.

Exactly where at the PDC did you find that Jesse Salomon raised $36,864 and spent $18,231?

I just now checked the PDC website and it shows that he has raised $20,410 and spent $7,105 - I think your numbers are way out of line by thousands.
