Shoreline City Council candidate Jesse Salomon said Sunday that he plans a campaign based on issues.
Salomon said that he would focus on neighborhood safety, making sure we have a clean environment with plenty of parks and open space, making sure development happens in a smart and responsible manner that preserves our great quality of life, and working for a positive business climate.
He said that he plans to maintain openness and transparency “both as a candidate and hopefully the next Shoreline City Council member.”
He said that he is running “because I believe that Shoreline can do better and my campaign will be focused on the issues that keep Shoreline moving forward.”
He said that being endorsed by the 32nd Legislative District Democrats does not mean that he represents any faction.
“I plan to be out almost every day talking to voters and responding to their concerns,” he said. “I intend to win this race by earning their trust and support, not by representing one Shoreline faction against another.”
Salomon and former Shoreline planning commissioner Robin McClelland have both announced that they would run for the position from which Councilman Terry Scott is retiring.
Salomon said that he congratulates McClelland on deciding to enter the race.
The open seat is one of three Shoreline Council positions that will be on this year’s ballot.
Councilman Chris Eggen and Councilwoman Doris McConnell have announced that they plan to seek re-election, No challengers have announced their intentions to seek either position.
Candidates file for ballot positions June 6-10.
Positions with three or more candidates appear on the August 16 primary ballot. Positions with only one or two candidates appear only on the November 8 general-election ballot.
