Shorewood opens Wesco 3A baseball play with 9-1 victory at Shorecrest

Shorewood opened Wesco 3A baseball play with a 9-1 victory at Shorecrest Wednesday.
The two teams meet in the second game of their two-game series at Shorewood Friday at 4 p.m.
Shorewood has a 4-2 overall record after winning a Monday game with Snohomish of the Wesco 4A North.Shorecrest has a 2-6 overall record after the Scots opened Wesco 3A play with two losses to Oak Harbor before the loss to Shorewood.
In Shorewood’s 9-1 victory, the Thunderbirds scored three runs each in the third, fourth and seventh innings.

 Blake Snell was the winning pitcher, giving up one run and striking out 13 batters in six innings. He also batted 3 for 3, with a double and 3 RBI. Trevor Mitsui was 2 for 5 with a solo home run, and Duncan Hendrickson was 2 for 2 with a double.

Ted Hammond produced Shorecrest’s only run with a sixth-inning solo home run. Teammate Skylar Shibayama was 2 for 3.
