Roger Loschen 1932-2011 |
Roger Loschen, mayor of Lake Forest Park between 1992 and 1996, died on April 3, 2011.
Mayor Dave Hutchinson says, "Roger Loschen was a visionary mayor. He oversaw the increase of the City from 3,400 residents to almost 12,500 residents. He was a leader in a time of transition."
Loschen served Lake Forest Park for 22 years, including five terms on the City Council and one as Mayor. This was a time of significant change in Lake Forest Park. The state Growth Management Act was pushing unincorporated areas to incorporate or join existing cities. Loschen recognized the need for Lake Forest Park to formalize the relationship with the surrounding neighborhoods which were then outside of the City limits, and in the process, quadrupled the size of the city.
After leaving elective office, he served on the Boundary Review Board to the end of his life.
A memorial service was held at LFP Presbyterian Church April 9, 2011. Donations are suggested to UNICEF or local children's charities.
Roger Loschen's obituary is in The Seattle Times and includes a guest book where visitors can leave personal statements.
