Jesse Salomon, who has announced his candidacy for Shoreline City Council, says that he will decide which position to seek after he meets voters.
Salomon, who registered with the State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) Monday, said Tuesday that he plans to start doorbelling and to start listening to voters’ concerns before deciding which position to run for.
Positions on this year’s ballot are those held by Council members Terry Scott, Chris Eggen and Doris McConnell.
Scott, who filed PDC forms February 6, is the only incumbent to register with the PDC.
PDC registration allows a candidate to raise and spend money toward the August primary and November general election. Candidates file for ballot positions with the King County elections department June 7-11.
Salomon, who represents the Ridgecrest community on the Shoreline Council of Neighborhoods, is a public defender employed by a non-profit legal-aid organization, defending homeless and other needy misdemeanor defendants in the Seattle Municipal Court.
He told me that he hopes that he can help the Council avoid the sharp divisions seen in past councils.
Salomon said that he plans to start raising money by making a contribution to his own campaign.
