Shoreline foster father admits to child rape
Friday, February 4, 2011
According to a story in the Seattle P-I, a Shoreline man has admitted to sexual abuse of three foster children placed in his home while he and his wife were licensed foster parents.
Speaking Friday, Department of Social and Health Services spokeswoman Sherry Hill said Richard Jason Boothby and his wife were first licensed as foster parents in June 2008. All foster children were pulled from the home after the allegations came to light late last year.
Boothby and his wife fostered 11 children during the 2 1/2 years since they were licensed as foster parents, Hill said. A stop-placement order has been put in place, and DSHS is conducting an investigation in parallel with law enforcement.
The abuse came to light when one of the children told his new, out-of-state, foster family what had happened in Shoreline. When confronted, Boothby admitted the abuse as well as that of two other children.
