The City’s Comprehensive Plan is the document that is used as the basis for the City’s regulations and guides future decision making. It is a 20-year plan that articulates the community's vision and is a reflection of community values. It addresses anticipated populations and employment growth and how facilities and services will be maintained or improved to accommodate the expected levels of growth.
State law requires that cities periodically update their comprehensive plans. Shoreline is required to update its plan by 2014. Updating the Plan is a significant undertaking that requires significant community input. To ensure the update is completed on time, the City will begin the updating process this year. In preparation, the Council began discussions in January on the scope, objectives and schedule for the upcoming Plan Update. As the City updates the Plan there will be a number of opportunities for the public to provide their input. The Council encourages everybody to participate.
