Shorecrest, Shorewood wrestlers compete in sub-regional tournament Friday and Saturday in Sedro Woolley

The Shorecrest and Shorewood wrestling teams compete Friday and Saturday in a sub-regional wrestling tournament in Sedro Woolley.

The tournament involves the 11 Class 3A teams in the Northwest District, eight from the Western Conference – Shorecrest, Shorewood, Everett, Glacier Peak, Lynnwood, Meadowdale, Mountlake Terrace and Oak Harbor – and three from the Northwest League – Ferndale, Mount Vernon and Sedro Woolley.

Competition begins at 5 p. m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

The top five wrestlers in each of the 14 weight classes qualify for the Region I tournament Feb. 12 at Glacier Peak.

 
The regional tournament includes five wrestlers in each weight class from the Northwest District sub-regional and three from the Kingco Conference 3A sub-regional. Kingco 3A teams area Bellevue, Juanita, Lake Washington, Liberty, Mercer Island, Mount Si and Sammamish.

Shorewood goes into the tournament after finishing in a tie for third in the Wesco 3A division dual-meet standings with a 4-3 Wesco 3A record (7-6 overall). Shorecrest finished in a tie for seventh with a 1-6 division record (1-8 overall).
