WeatherWatcher: it's snowing now

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

The winter weather advisory has now been extended to 5 AM. Still 1-3 inches of snow expected, locally higher as the further north we get.

For Shoreline I am making my own best guess of 4-6 inches of snow possible, with the change to rain occurring about 2, maybe 3 am. I’m watching the radar every hour or so and tracking how fast the warm air is moving in. At this point snow will probably be on side streets and possibly some main arterials by the morning commute. We currently have 1 inch of snow on the ground now in the Northeastern corner of Echo Lake Neighborhood, and roads are white and slick! When the snow started falling it was 35ºF, in one hour’s time the temperature dropped down to 30ºF, and has been steady since 8:45pm. Anything that is water out there is freezing.
