Rain City Rotary stays busy

Rain City Rotary members help at the Jacob's Well project
Rain City Rotary Club of Shoreline has been busy trying to make a difference in Shoreline and beyond since its formation nearly three years ago. Very much a “hands-on” organization, a club service project is designated each month as well as additional volunteer opportunities for individual members who have the interest.

The Shoreline Hopelink Food Bank is a regular project for Rain City volunteers. Hopelink director, Leslie Brooks, is a member of Rain City Rotary.

For the third consecutive year, RCR members helped serve a holiday meal, distribute hats and scarves, and staff a Santa store for homeless women and their children at Mary’s Place in Seattle.

Other activities include the Adopt–A-Road program, (15th Ave. NE between 145th and 165th), periodic maintenance efforts for the Center for Human Services, help in the construction of a Jacobs Well building in Shoreline, painting projects at Wonderland Development Center, labor toward the formation and upkeep of the Ballinger Community Gardens, bi-annual food drives for Hopelink, and concessions at the North City Jazz Walk.

The Rain City Rotary Club of Shoreline meets most Thursday evenings in the PUB at Shoreline Community College. The members enjoy a relaxed meal and social time together at the end of their day followed by a short program.

Rotary International is the largest service organization in the world with over 12 million members in over 200 countries. Anyone can join who has a desire to serve.
Ken Foote of Rain City says "More hands lighten the load and allow us all to do even more enjoying each others’ company along the way!"
Anyone interested in helping with Rain City local projects, including many family-friendly options, is invited and welcome to join. For contact information, go to the Rain City website, check them on  Facebook, or contact Ken Foote at 206-963-9138.
