City of Shoreline Surface Water Manager Brian Landau says “Ballinger Creek has a history of flooding during large storm events. This meeting is an opportunity to learn about the natural hazards in your neighborhood and how to better prepare as a resident.”
In preparation for the 2010-2011 La NiƱa winter, the City of Shoreline office of Emergency Management will provide information to and assist residents with disaster and emergency planning tools. A portion of the presentation will be about the Map Your Neighborhood Program and how participation by residents can serve vulnerable populations, in the event of a disaster, with a localized emergency plan in place.
All who live or work within the boundaries of the Ballinger neighborhood (City of Shoreline, east of the freeway and north of North City) are invited to attend.
Chair Joyce Lingerfelt says "Not only will people have the opportunity to hear an important presentation on neighborhood safety, they will be able to meet neighbors and find out about the many activities taking place right in their neighborhood."
