Shoreline residential fire Thursday evening

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Shoreline Fire crews quickly controlled a residential fire last night in the 14500 block of 6th Avenue NE.

The residents called 9-1-1 around 5:30 p.m. when they saw smoke coming from the laundry area -- behind their clothes dryer.

The residents evacuated, and fire crews arrived within minutes to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading.

No one was hurt, but there was smoke and water damage to the room and contents.

Shoreline Fire’s Prevention Division would like to remind everyone to maintain your dryer’s lint filters and vent systems regularly. Also, clothes and combustible materials should be kept a safe distance away from heat sources, such as dryers, heating vents, space heaters and other appliances.
