The Shoreline Concert Band will perform a winter concert, “Smiles,” at 7:30 pm, Tuesday, December 7 at the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center, 15343 25th Ave NE, Shoreline 98155.
“The music is programmed to make you smile,” band director Ken Noreen said. Seasonal music such as “Sleigh Ride” and theater/stage music from “West Side Story” will be performed.
Guest soloist will be saxophonist Luis Zuniga, a former SCC student now teaching at the University of Colorado, who will perform Alfred Reed’s “Ballad for Alto Sax.”
Around the Sound Community Band |
The Around the Sound Community Band, directed by Michael Alstad, will also perform. Tickets will be available at the door ($8, $6, and $4).
Part of the proceeds of this year’s concert will support a new Study Abroad program developed by the Dental Hygiene program at the college. (see story)
The Shoreline Concert Band donated a block of concert tickets to support a fundraising effort for the Smiles Forever program. The $15 tickets can be purchased in advance at the Dental Hygiene Clinic located in Room 2522 on the north end of campus. Call 206-546-4713 for information.
