SCC Men’s Basketball Goes 2-1 at Pierce CC Thanksgiving Tournament

The Shoreline Community College Men’s Basketball Team suffered an opening round loss at the Pierce Community College Thanksgiving Tournament, but bounced back to win the Consolation Championship with two straight victories.
In SCC’s first game, the team dropped a close 68-67 game to South Puget Sound CC. Shoreline led at halftime by five points (37-32) but could not hold the lead in the second half, as the squad was playing shorthanded. Alfie Miller and Zack Kelsh led SCC in the game with 19 and 18 points respectively.
In the second game of the tournament, Sean Jones returned to the squad after serving a two game suspension for breaking team rules and scored 26 points in his first game of the season to help SCC to a 81-79 victory over Linn-Benton CC from Oregon. Alfie Miller and Zack Kelsh added 23 and 22 points for the Dolphins.
In the consolation finals, SCC held Columbia Basin College to 13 first half points on the way to a 64-44 victory. Zack Kelsh led SCC with 14 points, while Alfie Miller scored 12 and Sean Jones added 11 for the Dolphins.
Zack Kelsh was named All-Tournament for his efforts over the weekend. Shoreline extended its record to 3-1 on the season. SCC plays in the Community College of Spokane tournament December 3-5.
