Shorewood Runs Well at State Championships

Shorewood boys compete at State Championships at Pasco
 Shorewood Cross Country competed at the State Championships at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco this past Saturday, November 6. It was a great day in the mid-60's with sun/overcast. The T-Birds represented Shorewood and Shoreline with excellence.

On the boys side, senior co-captain Colin Wilkins ran a great race. Colin capped off a wonderful 4-year Varsity career by going under 17 minutes on a 5k course. He was 10 seconds off his personal best and finished in the top half of the field of 136 runners.

On the girls side, the girls team ran a great race. Of the 7 runners, 4 set personal bests, and 1 a season's best. Junior Charlee Linton placed 21st out of 137 runners (season's best time - 2-time State Competitor), senior co-captain Erin Johnson closed out a remarkable high school country career (4 yr Varsity Letter winner - 3-time State Competitor), senior co-captain Tori Lewis also closed out a great career with a personal best time bettering her time by 24 seconds (4 yr Varsity Letter winner), senior Jessica Throolin also closed out her career with a personal best time bettering her previous best by 20 seconds, sophomore Keelin McKellar stepped up to score points for the team by also running a personal best time bettering her previous best by 33 seconds, sophomore Angelica Yehdego ran a courageous race almost running her season's best time, and senior newcomer Anahi Vicencio finished her season with a personal best time bettering her previous best by almost a minute. The girls team finished 10th overall in 3A.


16 teams qualified for the State Championships and there are approximately 87 3A schools in the State.
