Shorewood moves into District soccer finals with upset of Glacier Peak

The Shorewood girls’ soccer team moved into the finals of the Northwest District 3A tournament by defeating top-seeded Glacier Peak, 1-0, Monday at Glacier Peak. Jennifer Franklin scored the only goal, unassisted, in the 50th minute. Goalkeeper Kelsey Jang recorded the shutout. The Thunderbirds (11-7-0) handed Glacier Peak (16-1-1) its first loss of the season.
Shorewood will meet Meadowdale in the District championship game Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium. The winner will qualify for the 16-team State 3A tournament. The loser will meet the winner of a losers’ bracket game for the District’s second State berth.
