Shoreline City Proposition 1, which would allow the City to increase property-tax revenue beyond the 1 percent annual increase in revenue allowed by a Tim-Eyman-sponsored initiative, appears to be passing easily.
The tax measure had an almost 54 percent “yes” vote, with a nearly 41 percent voter turnout, compared to an expected 70 percent.
The most recent vote count, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, included ballots that the elections office had received by Monday, plus votes from accessible voting machines.
The next updated count is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
You wrote too soon. King County Elections reported that 4,592 ballots arrived today for a total of 21,746 - a turnout of 63.75% so far.
ReplyDeleteThe results posted today at 4:17 pm showed the results for 13,407 ballots cast:
Yes 6,676 53.84%
No 5,801 46.16
Total 12,568
Which means that 839 were unvoted or discarded.
Additionally, there is less than 1,000 votes for the margin with at least 8,340 ballots left to count.
That is the story to report, you should be watching for trends.
See that, wasn't so hard.
The trend seems to be a consistent "yes" vote in the 53-54 percent range with more than half of the expected votes counted and little change as a big bunch of new votes came in Wednesday.
