Activities on the west side of Aurora between N 165th and N 185th Streets
Crews will begin installing irrigation sleeves and preparing for rain gardens in City right-of-way between N 165th and N 170th Streets. Crews will continue to install the communications trench between N 170th and N 175th Streets. Removal of asphalt north of N 175th Street and installation of utility vaults between N 175th Street and Ronald Methodist Church are also planned on the west side of Aurora.
Two lanes of traffic in each direction on Aurora will be maintained during this work. Please drive safely in construction areas and pay attention to signage indicating where vehicles are and are not allowed to turn.
Temporary closure of access to N 170th Street from Aurora
Crews will close access to N 170th Street from Aurora during the day Monday through Friday to complete the communications trench across this intersection. Access to N 170th Street from Aurora will be opened in the evening. The trench will be plated each night to provide vehicle access.
Activities on N 175th Street
Crews will complete sidewalks on the north side of N 175th Street primarily near Key Bank. Crews will also complete the sidewalk on the east side of Aurora just north of N 175th Street. To safely conduct this work, a single westbound lane on N 175th Street will be closed between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Activities on N 185th Street
Crews will begin pouring sidewalks and installing pavers on the north side of N 185th Street. Intermittent single lane closures on N 185th Street may be necessary for this work.
Coming soon: Pre-construction utility relocation work related to the last mile of Aurora
Gas relocation will soon begin north of N 185th Street in preparation for the start of construction of the next section of the Aurora Corridor Project. This utility work is tentatively planned for November/December.
Other construction work on Aurora
The Ronald Wastewater project on Aurora between N 192nd and N 195th Streets is nearing completion with roadway striping still to be completed. This work is unrelated to the Aurora Corridor Project.
Planning for the holiday season
At this time, crews do not plan to work on Thanksgiving, November 25, or the following day, Friday, November 26. It is also anticipated that there will be no construction planned during the week of December 27 through 31.
Construction on the project is expected to be complete in summer 2011, weather permitting. Construction of the N 185th to N 192nd segment is anticipated to begin in early 2011.
