Shorecrest, Shorewood take 4-2 soccer records into Saturday night game


Shorecrest and Shorewood both take 4-2 records into their 7 p.m. Saturday game at Shoreline Stadium.

The game will help determine at least a share of the Western Conference 3A division lead. Shorecrest, Shorewood and Glacier Peak all have 12 points going into Saturday games. Glacier Peak meets Everett Saturday.

Shorewood has a 4-0 Wesco 3A record after beating Everett 1-0 Tuesday. Shorecrest is 4-1 in the division after losing Thursday to Everett 2-1 in a shootout.

In Shorewood’s 1-0 win over Everett at Shoreline Stadium Tuesday, Jennifer Franklin broke a scoreless tie in the 30th minute with Lisa Echert’s assist to give the Thunderbirds the win. Goalie Kelsey Jang notched the shutout for Shorewood.

In Shorecrest’s 2-1 shootout loss at Everett Thursday, McKayla Fox of Everett saved a shot and kicked the winning penalty kick to give Everett a 5-3 advantage in the shootout and the win. After the Seagulls took the lead less than a minute into the game, the score remained 1-0 until Nicole Harris shot the equalizer on a free kick in the 42nd minute. Ashley Beeson and Frida Swensen played in goal for Shorecrest.

Meanwhile, King’s takes a 4-1-1 record (3-1, Cascade Conference) into a Tuesday home game with Archbishop Murphey. King’s comes off a 3=0 victory at Cedarcrest Thursday.

Olivia Baker recorded two goals for King’s in its Cascade Conference win over Cedarcrest. Beth Stella opened scoring in the seventh minute on a pass from Baker and Baker followed with goals in the 16th (Anna Diede assist) and 46th minute. Allison Monea earned the shutout in goal for King’s.
