Rev-It-Up for Kids motorcycle rally, Saturday, September 11, in Renton
Saturday, September 11, 2010
Rev-It-Up for Kids is a community fundraiser for kids and families served by Atlantic Street Center in Seattle.
The event will be held at the Renton Motorcycle Company, 3701 East Valley Road, Renton, on Saturday, September 11, 9 am to 5 pm. For registration and event information check the website.
Organized by Shoreline resident Leonard Elion, the family-friendly event includes a rally, live bands, booths, barbecue, games for kids - and a bike show.
It will open with a ceremony with military color guards honoring the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001.
“It’s about coming together as a community and helping our children and families” says Shoreline resident Edith Elion, executive director of Atlantic Street Center. Each year, the awareness raised by this event helps provide services to more than 3,000 children and families in Seattle.
Leonard Elion bought his bike, a Honda Shadow, as a celebration of his 50th birthday, eight years ago.
This is his 6th year coordinating the event with Renton Motorcycles, Seattle Magic Wheels Motorcycle Club, and the Sojourner Truth Circle of Mount Zion Church.
He says, "Atlantic Street Center does great work in our community. It provides an array of comprehensive services to support families in areas of need and weakness-from early childhood education and parent training, to counseling, to helping and encouraging grandparents raise their grandchildren.
"For a $15 motorcycle registration fee, each participant truly helps Seattle’s children and families thrive."
