Shoreline PTA Council honored by State PTA
Wednesday, May 12, 2010
Shoreline PTA Council was awarded 1st place as a Council for PTAs Taking Significant Action by the Washington State PTA during their convention awards ceremony May 1 in SeaTac.
The state-wide recognition was for their annual "Holiday Baskets - Food, Toys, Teen Gifts" - a collaboration with the Shoreline Fire Department to serve Shoreline School District families in need. The December 2009 event saw 475 Shoreline and Lake Forest Park families register for assistance. The number of families requesting assistance doubled in 3 years.
The Shoreline PTA Council is excited to announce that Hopelink-Shoreline will join the collaboration for 2010. Local PTA units will still drive for food, toys and teen gifts in early December. The Shoreline Fire Department will have their "Shoreline Christmas" toy drive in November and December and Hopelink-Shoreline will have its holiday gifting programs.
All donations will be combined and distributed at the one central event to school district and food bank families with children 0-18.
