A week in the life of the Shoreline Police department
As told to Diane Hettrick (categories and comments all mine)
Good Citizenship Awards
4-25…..N 175 / Meridian. Found cell phone. (And obviously turned it in. Good job!)
4-29…..BE 146th / 17th NE. Dark roadway, suspicious person looking into car. (Our police want you to call in this kind of thing. Our chief’s favorite line: “If you don’t tell us, we don’t know.”)
Bad Citizenship Awards
5-1……108 NE 161st, Ridgecrest Park. Spray paint and markers used on handball courts, portable toilet, bleachers, garbage cans. (And it takes our money to pay staff to clean this stuff up. 17 kids and a couple of adults identified and charged and there are still idiots out there trashing the place. Turn them in! Call 1-800-222-TIPS)
Serious need for crisis relationship counseling
4-27…..Shoreline Community College. Female student reported harassment by male student. (No jokes about this. There have been too many bad outcomes.)
4-27…..305 NW RB Rd, Highland Square Apts. Ex-husband enters apartment without permission. (Bet he went back to get his stuff when she wasn’t home.)
4-28…..161xx Midvale. Husband assaults wife.
4-29…..12x N 178th, Newcastle Apts. Guy argues with girlfriend, somebody calls police. Guy arrested for an outstanding warrant for a hit and run. (No, he didn’t hit her and run. He was in his car. No, he didn’t hit her in the car or with the car. He hit somebody else .. no, with the car – oh nevermind!)
4-29…..14x NW RB Rd, Meadowbrook Apt. Entered apt and stole wedding ring. (common thief or disgruntled ex-husband? “I paid for the blankity-blank thing!”)
Druggies
4-27…..18325 Aurora, Fred Meyer. Forged prescription.
5-1……15332 Aurora, Safeway parking lot. Guy passed out in vehicle. Glass pipe with residue, electronic scale and syringe in plain view. Probably black tar heroin and crack.
Mental
5-2……175xx Stone. Woman is off her meds and acting out of control, kicking and damaging doors at father’s house. Taken to hospital for mental evaluation. (or she’s a teenager)
5-2……160xx Aurora, bus shelter. Subject transported to hospital for suicidal statements and alcoholism.
It’s a wonder that boys live to grow up
4-28…..155xx 11th NE. Bunch of guys in a Jetta drive up and throw a soda bottle bomb on the road in front of the residence, then speed off.
Picking on old ladies
4-30…..1201 N 175th, Top Foods. Thief stole purse from elderly woman’s shopping cart. They have him on video surveillance. (Ok, Mr. Policeman, grey hair doesn’t make you elderly. Note to women: thieves are grabbing purses out of shopping carts in all the stores with carts, whether you are “elderly” or not. And OMG – video surveillance in Top? I thought I was alone in that aisle. I’d better not show up on America’s funniest home videos.)
Crimes of opportunity?
4-28…..19290 Aurora, YMCA. Items stolen from woman’s locker.
4-30…..19290 Aurora, YMCA. Items stolen from woman’s locker.
5-1……15332 Aurora, Safeway. Shoplifted sandwich. (And we’ve got you on video, buster)
The boys in blue haven’t been on the road much this week...
4-29…..179xx Linden. Driving With License Suspended.
4-29…..166xx Stone. Driver stopped for speeding and arrested for Driving With License Revoked and drug charges. Booked King County jail.
5-1……N 160 / Aurora. Driver stopped. Has two outstanding warrants. Booked King County Jail.
...they were too busy processing cars
4-30…..176xx 6th NW. Abandoned vehicle. Notified by Shoreline Customer Response Team.
4-30…..N 195th / Linden. Abandoned vehicle. Notified by Shoreline Customer Response Team.
4-30…..174xx 12th. Abandoned vehicle. Notified by Shoreline Customer Response Team.
4-30…..12x NE 168th. Abandoned vehicle. Notified by Shoreline Customer Response Team.
4-30…..157xx Midvale. Abandoned vehicle. Notified by Shoreline Customer Response Team.
Locked or unlocked?
5-1……412 NE 165th, Ridgecrest Apts. Broke car window, rummaged through glove box.
5-3……177xx 10th NW. Car unlocked. GPS stolen.
Pallet thefts
4-30…..Anheuser-Busch pallets stolen from various Shoreline businesses since the beginning of 2010. (Starting their own brewing business?)
Huh?
4-30…..South Woods, 25th NE. Boy attempting to report violation of order against his ex-girlfriend. Problem is he followed her into the woods. She saw him and left with friends. (So he’s stalking her? Or she’s hanging out with the wrong people and he’s trying to protect her?)
Now here’s an idea
5-1……8xx N 161st Pl. Received award letter with bad check. (What an enchanting idea! Every time we get one of those bogus checks in the mail, we turn them in for fraud. I like it. But don’t call the police. Maybe the attorney general’s office or Get Jesse. Rob McKenna or Jesse – which one would be the scariest?)
