Thursday, May 13, 2010

Shorecrest plays Mount Vernon Thursday for the Northwest District 3A soccer championship after an 8-1 victory over Everett Tuesday.

The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Shoreline Stadium. Everett plays Glacier Peak at 5:30 in a loser-out game.

The Shorecrest/Mount Vernon winner gets the District’s No. 1 spot in the State playoffs. The loser plays the Everett/Glacier Peak winner Saturday for the No. 2 berth.

In Tuesday’s win, also at Shoreline Stadium, Michael Harris scored three goals; Glenn Paden had two goals and three assists; Eli Blauser had a goal and an assist; and Hiei Rose and Maoulay Adjorlolo each scored goals.

Shorecrest trailed for the first time all season before coming back to win the semifinal game. Everett’s David Gebert scored on a free kick in the third minute and the Seagulls held off Shorecrest until the 36th minute. Eric Baker and Sam Schober were in goal for Shorecrest.

Mount Vernon beat Glacier Peak 4-0 in the other semifinal.
