The Seattle Times sports section names 10 high-school athletes to watch this weekend and #5 is "Shorewood armed and dangerous"
With Kevin Moriarty and Blake Snell on the mound and Trevor Mitsui at the plate, the Shorewood baseball team has made a surprising run to the Class 4A Final Four. Moriarty (9-1, 1.17 earned-run average) is a 6-foot-5 right-hander. Snell (6-3, 1.60 ERA) is a 6-4 lefty. Both can throw 90 mph.
"Two wonderful kids who just happen to be pretty good pitchers," coach Wyatt Tonkin said.
Mitsui, a junior infielder, has a .500 batting average and has crushed three home runs during the playoffs. He has 11 homers this season and a slugging percentage of 1.167.
