Babysitting is important business

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

The Northshore Fire Department is offering two Safe Sitter® classes this summer.

The first offering is Thursday/Friday, June 24/25; the second is Thursday/Friday, July 22/23. Class is from 9 am to 4 pm both days. The class is open to girls and boys age 11 to 13. Class size is limited to 14 students.

Safe Sitter®  is the only national nonprofit organization devoted exclusively to preparing young adolescents for the profound responsibility of nurturing and protecting children. It is a medically accurate program that teaches young adolescents how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children, including basic lifesaving techniques such as infant and child CPR. They learn safety precautions, how to understand children of different ages, and even the business of babysitting.

Cost for the class is $40.00 and includes a take-home Safe Sitters kit. Register for either class at Northshore Fire or contact Terri Jones at  425-486-2784.
