The Shoreline School construction bond was passing Wednesday afternoon with a larger margin than it had Tuesday night.

Shoreline School District Prop. 2, which would pay for rebuilding both Shorecrest and Shorewood high schools, had a 61.50 percent “yes” vote in Wednesday’s count, compared to the 60.83 percent "yes" vote it had Tuesday night. A 60 percent "yes" vote is required for a bond to pass.

A bond election is valid only with a turnout equal to at least 40 percent of the number of district voters who voted in the last statewide election.

In the Shoreline District, that means the measure needed 9,516 voters or 5,710 "yes" votes for the election to be valid.

As of the 4:30 p.m. Wednesday release of returns by the King County elections department, the total vote was 14,257, with 8,768 "yes" votes. That means that the election is valid.

The Wednesday vote count was based on a turnout close to the expected countywide turnout.

Ballots included in the Tuesday and Wednesday counts were generally those received by Tuesday, meaning that they had to be mailed by Monday or dropped off by Tuesday.

The next vote count is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The elections department will continue to count votes until final certification, Wednesday, Feb. 24.
