The Shoreline School construction bond measure was passing Thursday afternoon with an increasingly larger margin than it had Wednesday.
Shoreline School District Prop. 2., which would pay for rebuilding both Shorecrest and Shorewood high schools, had a 359-vote margin over the 60 percent approval rate needed for passing, compared to 203 votes Wednesday.
The measure had a 62.21 percent approval rate, compared to a 61.50 percent approval rate Wednesday and a 60.83 percent approval rate Tuesday night.
A bond election is valid only with a turnout equal to at least 40 percent of the number of district voters who voted in the last statewide election.
In the Shoreline District, that means the measure needed 9,516 voters or 5,710 "yes" votes for the election to be valid.
As of the 4:30 p.m. Thursday release of returns by the King County elections department, the total vote was 16,261, with 10,116 "yes" votes. That means that the election is valid.
The Thursday vote count was based on a turnout higher than the expected countywide turnout.
Ballots included in the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday counts were generally those received by Wednesday meaning that they had to be mailed or dropped off by Tuesday.
The next vote count is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday. The elections department will continue to count votes until final certification, Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Elections officials expected most ballots to be returned by Thursday. Votes still to come in are from voters sending their votes from overseas and from voters whose ballots were returned for missing or invalid signatures.
