Civil War re-enactors in Edmonds startle Shoreline residents
Friday, October 4, 2013
A series of what sounded like explosions startled Shoreline residents in the northwest section of the City on Thursday. Multiple explosions at fairly regular intervals puzzled and concerned residents.
However, according to our News Partner MyEdmondsNews, the noise was the sound of cannons being fired at the Madrona K-8 School in Edmonds. "The school received a visit from a group of Civil War re-enactors — their fourth visit in eight years — which involved the use of gun powder — but no ammunition — in demonstrating cannon use."

The school correctly notified EPD well in advance as well as the surrounding neighborhood. It is a living history event for the school and is always well received by the kids. The cannon is a highlight for them but a sobering reminder.
Damn those savages in Edmonds!
I would never expose my child to gun powder. The next thing you know they'd have an assault rifle and shoot up some church service on Sunday!
Ya know, if you are unaware of what is happening in your area, you deserve a bit of fright now and then.
.
Situational awareness people, it's really not that hard.
.
There are people who live around re-enactment areas, such as Virginia, and I have NEVER seen anyone COMPLAIN about them, but then again, they aren't Washington state residents who don't get our history either.
