Seattle Humane Society offers a free neuter and low-cost spay day for cats on November 1

Friday, October 14, 2011

The Seattle Humane Society is holding a FREE Neuter (and Low-Fee Spay) Day for Cats on November 1, 2011.

Male cats will be neutered for FREE and females spayed for $15 (additional charges may apply for complicated surgeries). Feline microchipping and FVRCP vaccines will also be available for $5 each.

Appointments are required. Low-income cat lovers can make an appointment online at seattlehumane.org or call 425-649-7560. The surgeries will be done at the Seattle Humane Society, 13212 SE Eastgate Way in Bellevue. Cats must be at least 4 months old.

Spaying/neutering keeps cats from producing unwanted litters and it actually improves a pet's health. The simple surgery reduces reproductive cancers in females and prostate cancer in males. Other benefits include making them less likely to roam and become injured, less likely to spray or mark, and less likely to exhibit dominant behavior.

Seattle Humane Society’s Neuter (and Spay) Day for Cats is made possible thanks to a $5,000 grant from The Washington Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies. The funds for this grant award are made possible by the sale of Washington State “We Love Our Pets” license plates.
