New 148-Unit housing development breaks ground in Shoreline

Weidner Apartment Homes recently broke ground on its 148-unit Market Square project on Aurora Ave N between N 200th and N 205th Streets, just west of Costco. Weidner builds, manages, and owns apartments throughout the United States and Canada. The general contractor, Synergy Construction, is based in Woodinville.
“We expect that a large number of our future residents will choose this property not only for its quality, but also because of its proximity to public transportation,” commented Greg Sparhawk, Weidner’s lead architect. “We think that the residents will appreciate the added value from amenities like the central courtyard, the large rooftop green space, the lounge, and the exercise room.”
The complex will be a mix of studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom units, and it will feature two levels of underground parking along with a large area for bicycle parking. The grand opening is expected in the spring of 2012.
According to Dan Eernissee, Economic Development Manager for the City of Shoreline, “Market Square represents an immediate investment of $20 million in the City of Shoreline, and its future tenants will undoubtedly enrich and support our community for decades to come. It is a clear testimony of the importance of the Aurora Corridor improvements as well. Needless to say, we are very enthusiastic to see Market Square move forward."

Dan Eernissee, you had absolutely nothing to do with this project, so why don't you take your spin and go away. The Market Square project started several years ago and you just HAPPEN to be the economic development director of the moment and a glory hound.
Wow, bitter much? I don't see Mr. Eernissee taking credit for the project. It's pretty normal to have the pertinent officials comment on a groundbreaking, and in fact this is probably from the development company's press release. The Aurora improvements have been in planning for many years so that upgrade could very well have had a part in the decision to locate this project in Shoreline.
Actually, the Optional SEPA for Market Square was approved over a year ago, but I guess you don't keep up much, do you @8:01 pm.
It is the parcel that has had a couple of large pieces of construction equipment sitting on it for over a year.
Locate in Shoreline? The project has been underway as a rezone for over five years, you need to keep better track of what is happening; Maggie Fimia was someone who voted to approve this project, that's how old it is.
I'm not bitter, I am pointing the glory seeking hypocrisy of Dan Eernissee, that Aurora Corridor had absolutely NOTHING to do with the project.
But then you don't keep track of what goes on, so what do you know, you'd believe anything City Hall tells you.
I can see Dan Eernissee adding this "ACCOMPLISHMENT" to his resume...
