Shoreline Covenant Church |
The "Turning Tents into Homes" event will be held from Friday, September 24 at 7 pm until 8 am Saturday, September 25 at the Shoreline Covenant Church, 1330 N 185th St, Shoreline 98133. 206-542-1050
Women and friends of Shoreline Covenant Church are turning tents into homes for women and children in Shoreline by raising money to buy lumber for Jacob's Well-a transitional housing complex, being constructed by Vision-House, for homeless women and children. Anyone interested in participating can contact the church to bring a tent and pledges from friends, neighbors, family and co-workers and spend one night in solidarity with women who struggle every night to find a safe and dry and warm place to sleep with their kids. The sleep-over will end on Saturday morning with breakfast served at 8 am.
Participants will "sleep-out" in their tents in the church parking lot to raise at least $4,000 in pledges. There is a donor willing to match that dollar for dollar, so if forty women participate and each raise $100 (that's only ten people giving $10 or twenty-five people each "buying" one $4 board), $4,000 can turn into $8,000 and make a serious dent in the $160,000 Vision House needs to frame Jacob's Well before winter.
Pledge $4 a plank or make a flat donation in any amount. Make checks to Shoreline Covenant Church, note “Shoreline Sleep-Out” in the memo line. To donate online, visit the Vision House website and scroll down to the bottom of the page to “other amount” and make a note in the comments field with “Shoreline Sleep-Out”.
Questions? Call or email Pastor Erika at 206-542-1050.
Together we can help some of our most hidden and vulnerable homeless: moms and kids.
